Ombre Inspirational shoot

Here are some wonderful pictures from our Ombre Shoot, I absolutely loved designing, planning and styling this shoot. It is featured in the January/February 2020 issue of You and Your Wedding magazine.

The beautiful light images from the talented Maxeen Kim Photography captured all the gorgeous details.

Here are some of the details about my vision and inspiration behind this shoot.

Inspiration: My inspiration came from a gorgeous crystal mural wallpaper which I saw. I loved the beautiful soft pastel colour tones in the wallpaper, which really complimented each other.

Location: I wanted an elegant location in the heart of London and when I saw the stunning interiors, wonderful high ceilings and large bright and airy rooms at Carlton House Terrace, it was breathtaking, and I knew it would be ideal for this shoot. It is such a unique Grade II listed building in one of my favourite locations in London – Westminster. A stunning London Wedding Venue.

Theme: An elegant, romantic feel, incorporating subtle colour to create beautiful, unique inspiration. Showcasing gorgeous wedding details that couples can incorporate into their special day.

Colour paletteI choose soft pink, lavender, cream and a hint of blue, shimmering tones and reflective surfaces. I felt that these colours complemented each other well. The shimmering tones provided elegant details with a hint of sparkle and the reflective surfaces added that modern edge.

My process: I had a clear vision for this shoot. I created a mood board and look books for each element of the shoot, which I shared with the talented suppliers that I selected. I knew I wanted to showcase beautiful, timeless details and gorgeous soft colours. My aim was to ensure that all the elements of this shoot complemented the colour palette. The table setting was key as I knew that this would be the best way to translate these pretty pastel tones. I wanted to use the table flowers to create an ombre effect as a striking centrepiece.

Florals: Floral designer Bilen from Queen of Hearts Floral Design created stunning flowers for this shoot. The dining table ombre floral runner was made up exclusively of David Austin roses, in shades of cream, light pink, lilac, fuchsia and purple. Although it was a low arrangement, we wanted to create the wow factor through colour and its 10ft length.

The fireplace arrangement was designed with height in mind, to complement the all rose table runner. It was mainly foliage including honey bracelet, eucalyptus, and leather fern. For touches of colour, she added lilac delphinium, iris and lavender. To bring the look together she also added some blush roses at the bottom, also used in the table arrangement.

For the bridal bouquet Queen of Hearts Floral design chose a traditional round shape, however used unconventional bright and vibrant colours.  The bouquet consisted of orange alstroemeria, peach gerber daisy, large garden roses in shades of deep orange, purple dahlia and cala lilies. These chosen flowers worked to add a pop of colour within the setting and complement the wonderful bridal gown.

Standout elements of this shoot: aside from the wonderful rose floral runner, it would have to be the exquisite bridal gown designed specifically for this shoot by Qui Madam, which included intricate embellishments on the shoulders and a beautiful, low back, which makes such a statement. The stunning rose quartz, agate slices used for the bride and groom place cards were also striking. This all looked so fantastic against the beautiful features within Carlton House Terrace, each element of this shoot helped to showcase this stunning London location.

Styling Tip: Choose a clear colour palette and bring it thorough in different details in your wedding, not just the obvious areas like flowers but also think about the cake, candles, table linen and glassware.

Work with your venues aesthetics you don't have to go over the top with elaborate tall table flowers either in a large venue. The beautiful low floral arrangement used, created such an impact and really complemented the venues beautiful interiors.
