As the crisp air settles in and the leaves begin to turn into gorgeous colours across the UK, I believe Autumn brings a truly magical backdrop for a wedding. With its rich textures, warm tones, and intimate atmosphere, it is a spectacular season to celebrate your love story.
Embracing the season is about so much more than rust coloured leaves; it is about creating a warm, sensory experience where your guests feel comfortable, cared for, and utterly enchanted.

1. An Autumn colour palette
When we think of Autumn, our minds often jump straight to bright orange and yellow. However, a sophisticated seasonal palette replies on depth and richness.
Consider weaving in tones like deep plum, terracotta, burnt orange, rich emerald and deep yellow. You can introduce these shades through your wedding day stationery, taper candles or incorporate delicate and soft velvet ribbons or napkins. These subtle pops of rich colour anchor the season beautifully without overpowering the room, giving your aesthetic a timeless, curated feel.
2. Tactile tablescapes and rich textures
Autumn decor is all about texture and warmth. It is the perfect opportunity to move beyond standard table setups and create an inviting, layered atmosphere for your wedding reception.
Look at incorporating tactile elements like dark wooden accents, textured crockery, coloured glass candlesticks, charger plates or wine glasses. Adding seasonal touches to your tables, such as fruit like apples, pears, figs, pomegranates or blackberries nestled alongside clusters of flickering taper candles.

As the weather grows cooler, thoughtful food and drink choices are a wonderful way to pamper your guests and set a seasonal autumn tone right from the start.
Instead of a traditional glass of champagne on arrive, consider tempting your guests with a spiced pear bellini, a hot mulled apple cider or a dark plum gin cocktail. Paired with seasonal canapés or a late night comfort food station. These thoughtful touches warm your guests from the inside out and make the celebration feel deeply hospitable.
5. Embracing early dusk and the 'golden hour' for photos
As the sun sets earlier in the afternoon, light becomes one of your most powerful design elements. Low level amber lighting, fairy lights, and lanterns lining walkways create a romantic, candlelight glow that makes your venue feel instantly cosy.
Crucially, an earlier dusk also brings the coveted Autumn "golden hour". During this time of year, the sunset arrives earlier in the evening, casting a soft golden light that feels deeply intimate and romantic.
